The one where I baked a cake..

As part of number 7 I need to learn how to cook. Bored one day I decided maybe I could include baking as part of that and so I decided to bake a cake.

Tonight I decided to bake a cake. Yep, you read that right. Ecke baked!! There's a first for everything, and I finally decided it was time to find my way around the kitchen. Maybe I'd missed my calling in life and for all I knew I could be one of the greatest cake bakers in the world, but didn't yet know it cos I'd never tried. So I gave it a go.

First of all I can tell you with some certainty that I'm not one of the greatest cake bakers in the world, but for my first time ever baking a cake I reckon I've done pretty well. I cheated a little cos i bought a cadburys packet mix, but i still needed to add eggs, butter and water. I just had a slight problem when it come to weighing the butter as I don't actually own any scales so had to guess. I also had trouble with the decorating of the cake. I had to ice it with a spoon cos I didn't have one of the flat knife things it shows you on the box..

I documented the whole process though and here are the results for you all to marvel at. Its a work of art.

Step 1 - Get box of easy to use cake mix

Step 2 - Mix it in a bowl. My bowls giagantic. I don't even know where its come from I found it in the back of a cupboard. It must be one of the few things Sarah left behind when she moved out.

Step 3 - Cakes cooked & looking good. Mix some chocolate icing

Step 4 - Me & my masterpiece. Had a slight problem with getting the icing round the sides so gave up and put it all on top.

Step 5 - Now how yummy does that look.

Below are the comments I received after I posted this on Myspace...
